This ribbed, ornate bronze picture frame is inspired by European design of the late-British Bronze Age, in which crescent-shaped lunulae ribs were either cast from the back, or hammered by hand from the front. In the case of this historically-inspired moulding, the look of aged bronze is finished over a stamped gesso base, which sits on a wood substrate.
The profile is 1 ¼” wide, with a rabbet depth of ½”, making this ornate bronze picture frame profile ideal for matted works on paper, and other items that a ½” rabbet would accommodate. For example, beveled mirrors would be an excellent pairing with this beautiful and decorative frame.
Several interior design styles are applicable to this versatile, ribbed, ornate bronze look, ranging from Tuscan, Mediterranean, and even Gothic styles, to Arabian, Indian, Cool Brittania, and Explorer styles. Living spaces with warm and rich earth tones are especially ideal settings for this ribbed, ornate bronze picture frame.
Warm red and orange hues would complement this frame, including acid free archival mats from our selection, such as Catcher’s Mitt 9584, Root Beer 9585, Spice 9836, and Fresh Brew 9590. In the yellow range, consider Ginger 9816, Brown Sugar 9586, and Haystack 9520.
