This modern black picture frame moulding is a classy step up from a basic black frame due to thin metallic silver lines on both corner edges of the profile face – perfect for framing wedding portraits or other black & white photography.
The width is 1-1/2”, making this option slightly more substantial than a more common 3/4” or 1-1/4” width. The finish sits on a gesso base, which is applied to a real wood substrate. The rabbet depth is 5/8”, meaning that stretched canvases could fit decently in this profile as long as the stretcher bar is a thin profile.
Your best use of this frame probably would entail framing artwork that has the characteristics of sharp, clean lines, such as matted fine art wedding photography, black and white prints of water reflections, or perhaps contemporary buildings or bridges with clean lines.
Finally, consider using this modern black picture frame for metallic prints, either in the form of acrylic face-mounts, prints on aluminum, or matted prints on metallic paper. Any urban image with a highly reflective enhancement or high contrast composition would do well in this frame, as would soft images of nature such as black & white close-ups of leaves, or winter landscapes of a field or lake.
