Stand Off
Definition
A Stand Off is a mounting or hanging method where a rigid artwork material-such as acrylic, aluminum, or glass-is affixed to a wall using bolts or screws. Spacers are placed around each fastener to separate the artwork from the wall, creating a floating visual effect.
Applications
- Displaying rigid art panels, photographs, or signage in galleries, offices, or public spaces.
- Providing a modern, dimensional aesthetic by raising the artwork off the wall.
- Allowing easy cleaning behind the mounted artwork and reducing risk of moisture damage to the wall or art.
Benefits
- Creates a floating effect for a contemporary presentation.
- Supports heavy or rigid materials securely.
- Reduces direct contact between artwork and wall, helping prevent damage.
