Standard Acrylic
Definition
Standard Acrylic is a clear plastic glazing material that closely resembles glass in transparency and clarity. It is commonly used in picture framing and display applications as a lightweight, shatter-resistant alternative to glass. Standard acrylic does not provide UV protection or other specialty features such as anti-reflective or non-glare properties.
Properties
- Lightweight compared to glass.
- Shatter-resistant, making it safer in high-traffic or public areas.
- Does not inherently block UV light; may require additional UV-filtering films for artwork protection.
- Can scratch more easily than glass, so care is required during handling and cleaning.
Applications
- Picture framing for posters, prints, and photographs where UV protection is not critical.
- Display cases, signage, and protective covers for documents.
- Cost-effective glazing solution for lightweight or standard framing projects.
