Slatboard
Overview
Slatboard is a type of display board commonly used in retail, gallery, and framing shop environments to organize and present products. It features evenly spaced horizontal grooves or slats that accept a variety of hooks, shelves, bins, or brackets, allowing flexible arrangements of merchandise or display materials. Slatboard is often constructed from medium-density fiberboard (MDF), though versions made from PVC, aluminum, or other durable materials are also available.
Applications
- Retail Display: Used in frame shops, art supply stores, and galleries to showcase picture frames, mat samples, and related accessories.
- Custom Framing: Ideal for organizing and displaying corner samples of moulding or matboard for customer selection.
- Merchandising: Provides a clean, professional way to display products that can be rearranged as inventory changes.
- Storage: Helps keep tools, supplies, and display items within easy reach in a workshop or sales environment.
Best Practices
- Use heavy-duty hooks or brackets for displaying moulding or frames to prevent sagging or warping of the board.
- Install slatboard securely into wall studs or with a robust mounting system to ensure weight-bearing capacity.
- Keep display layouts uncluttered to avoid overwhelming customers with too many visual options at once.
- For archival products, avoid direct placement against the slatboard if the surface is untreated MDF, which may off-gas.
