Glass Spacers | Clear and Black EconoSpace

Glass Spacers

FrameTek EconoSpace glass spacers are neutral-pH plastic peel-and-stick separators that bond near the edge of glass or acrylic to maintain airspace between the glazing and artwork. Choose clear or black in 1/16", 1/8", 1/4", or 3/8" depths for compatible wood or metal picture-frame packages.

Spacers are supplied slightly longer than the ordered size so they can be trimmed to the exact fit. Orders over 5 feet will be spliced. Confirm that the frame has enough usable rabbet depth for the spacer, artwork, glazing, mounting, and backing together.

Choose spacer depth from the required separation

The listed dimension is the airspace created between artwork and glazing. Use only as much separation as the project needs while accounting for the additional package depth. The available 1/16", 1/8", 1/4", and 3/8" options support different artwork surfaces and frame rabbets.

Compare clear and black

Clear spacers can be less noticeable beside light glazing edges and light frame interiors. Black spacers can coordinate with dark frame interiors or create a deliberate dark edge. Color is a visual choice; the required depth and package fit remain separate decisions.

Airspace helps protect vulnerable surfaces

Some artwork should not touch glass or acrylic directly. Separation helps keep glazing away from media and reduces the chance of direct contact when moisture or surface texture is a concern. A spacer does not by itself control room humidity or make an otherwise unsuitable package safe.

Check glazing and rabbet depth together

Compare glass and acrylic options, then use the rabbet-depth guide to total every component. Dry-fit the complete package before removing peel-and-stick backing or making final cuts.
