Picture frame hangers can mean two different parts of the hanging system: hardware attached to the frame, such as D-rings or sawtooth hangers, and hooks attached to the wall. This collection includes both categories, along with wood-frame kits, metal-frame hardware, an easel back, and bulk supplies.
Choose hardware for the complete framed weight, frame material, display method, and wall construction. A rating shown for one component does not increase the capacity of the wire, fastener, frame, or wall attachment used with it.
| Hardware type | Where it goes | Primary decision |
|---|---|---|
| One-hole D-rings and two-hole steel hangers | Back of a compatible wood frame | Frame size, wood thickness, screw length, and listed load rating |
| Sawtooth hanger | Back of a small compatible wood frame | Centered placement and suitable frame size |
| Wall picture hook with nail | Compatible wall surface | Wall construction, framed weight, and listed rating |
| Metal-frame hardware package | Compatible metal frame channels | Correct frame system and assembly method |
| Easel back | Compatible wood or metal frame | Tabletop stability and the listed 16" maximum frame direction |
A hanging system is only as strong as its least capable component. Consider the complete framed weight, both frame-side hangers, wire if used, wall hooks, fasteners, and the wall itself. The current collection includes products with different listed ratings, so review the individual product specification rather than assuming that all hangers are interchangeable.
For wood frames, the screw must hold securely without reaching the face or entering the artwork package. Compare picture framing screws by gauge and length. Screws always belong in the wood moulding, never in artwork, mats, glazing, or backing.
When the chosen frame hangers use wire, select picture framing wire for the complete framed weight. Review the wood-frame fitting guide for the full order of assembly.
