Custom Assembled Canvas Stretcher Support

This custom-size stretcher support is built from raw, kiln-dried wood bars with a 5/8" profile depth and 2" bar width. Its corners are permanently joined, and the assembled support is supplied ready for the customer to attach and tension canvas.

This is an assembled support, not a set of loose interlocking stretcher bars. The order does not include canvas, staples, tacks, canvas pliers, finishing materials, or an exterior decorative picture frame.

Choose Profile Depth and Bar Width

Profile depth determines the finished side depth of the stretched canvas support. Bar width describes the wood surface extending inward from the outside edge. Compare both measurements with the artwork scale, available canvas margin, attachment method, and any decorative frame or floater frame planned for the finished canvas.

The 5/8"-deep profile creates the shallowest assembled support in this collection. Confirm that the reduced side depth and 2" bar width suit the canvas and any later frame treatment.

Stretching and Completion

Center the canvas over the assembled support and tension it evenly while working around the perimeter. Use attachment hardware suitable for the canvas and wood, keep fasteners within the stretcher bars, and finish the folds and edges consistently. Canvas tensioning technique depends on the fabric, preparation, medium, size, and desired edge treatment.
