Anti-Reflective Is Different From Non-Glare

Optium does not use the matte texture found on conventional non-glare acrylic. Instead, it uses optical coatings to reduce reflections while preserving a sharper view of the artwork.

Why Anti-Static Performance Matters

Standard acrylic can develop a static charge that attracts dust and may affect loose or delicate materials. This is an important concern when framing pastels, charcoal, textiles and other objects with particles or fibers that could be drawn toward the glazing.

Optium's anti-static performance makes it better suited to these sensitive framing applications. Artwork should still be mounted securely and kept from touching the glazing.

Abrasion Resistant Does Not Mean Scratch Proof

Optium has greater surface durability than ordinary acrylic, but it should still be handled carefully. Abrasion resistance helps protect the coated surface during normal use; it does not make the material immune to scratches or damage.

Use clean gloves when handling the glazing, avoid dragging objects across its surface and follow the correct cleaning method for coated Optium acrylic.

Optium Requires Different Care From Standard Acrylic

Do not use acrylic polish or acrylic polishing compounds on Optium Museum Acrylic. Its optical coatings require a different cleaning method from FF3, P99, OP3 and OP3 P99 acrylic.

Use a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with a compatible glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials and follow the care guidance supplied with the product.

UV Protection Is One Part of Preservation

Optium's UV filtering helps reduce ultraviolet exposure, but no glazing prevents every form of fading or aging. Visible light, heat, humidity, pollutants and the stability of the artwork's materials can also cause change.

For long-term preservation, use appropriate mats, mounting materials and backing, maintain stable indoor conditions and avoid displaying valuable artwork in direct sunlight.

Is Optium Museum Acrylic the same as Museum Glass?

No. Optium is an acrylic glazing material, while Museum Glass is traditional glass. Both provide anti-reflective clarity and UV protection, but Optium is lighter and more resistant to breakage.
